THE BREAKDOWN

TRAVELING TO SW MONTANA

Treed Up Outfitters is located approximately 1.5 hours from Bozeman and 1 hour from Butte. We will pick you up from either airport. Rental cars are available in both places and might be a good idea if you have a little down time during the hunt.

If your driving, plan to give yourself extra time as Montana roads in December can be marginal at best. We recommend you try to arrive around noon the day before your hunt starts so you have plenty of time to get rested and settled in before a long week with lack of sleep begins.

HUNT INFORMATION

With the ability to hunt six different Mountain Lion units our team will work hard to find that cat you have been dreaming of.  Your hunt will start at 2AM each morning.  Once your guide has picked you up its off to driving roads till you find a track.  After daylight your guide will cut the dogs loose and that's when the fun begins!  At Treed Up we target big toms and you might have to pass a few cats in the tree before finding a shooter.  Our guides tree lots of cats each year and will help you decide on the right cat to harvest.

HD'S FOR HUNTING

Treed Up Outfitters operates entirely in region 3. A over the counter tag is all that you will need. There are six different quotas in our area which gives us access to a ton of country. This gives us the unique opportunity to move to a different area if one quota closes.

GEAR THAT YOU NEED

The key to having a great hunt is making sure you have the correct gear. The majority of the time will be spent in a heated vehicle but when its time to go you want to be prepared. Our partner RW Outdoors can help you get everything you need.

BOOTS

One of the biggest problems our clients face is wearing too heavy of a boot. You will want a boot that can be worn all morning in the truck without your feet sweating but also have the support and tread to give adequate traction in the snow and rocks.

CLOTHING

It is all about layering. You are guaranteed to work up a sweat trudging through deep snow to a tree. Having a base layer that draws moisture away from the skin is key to staying warm. Outer layers that are light and breath but will keep you warm are best and an extra coat for standing under a tree is a must. You can always take it off but you can’t put it on if you don’t have it!
